What this site is
QuakeRetrofitCheck reports city-level USGS seismic design data and sourced retrofit cost figures. It is informational only and is not a substitute for a structural engineer's or licensed contractor's assessment of a specific property, which only an in-person inspection can provide.
No warranty on the figures
Every figure traces to USGS's own published seismic model or a sourced contractor-cost guide, but a city's Seismic Design Category describes ground motion at a point under standard assumptions - it cannot and does not describe any individual house's foundation, age, or construction. Nothing on this site is guaranteed to match what a specific property actually needs, and no result here should be the sole basis for a real-estate, insurance, or construction decision.
No engineering or legal advice
Nothing on this site is structural-engineering, legal, or insurance advice. Earthquake risk is a real consideration, but this site reports USGS's own screening data and sourced cost figures only - it does not inspect, certify, or guarantee the safety of any building. Whether to retrofit a specific property should be based on an actual assessment from a licensed structural engineer or contractor.
